How CallDirek® Internet Phone service works?

You've got a broadband Internet connection, CallDirek® Internet Phone is a service you can use to make Internet phone calls at significant savings over analog calling. Here's how it works:

• CallDirek® Internet Phone sends your phone call across the Internet.
• Your calls go through your modem.
• Your CallDirek® Internet Phone adaptor splits your high-speed broadband Internet connection.

Your Internet connection should work as it did before you installed the CallDirek® Phone adaptor - sending emails and other web data to your personal computer. Your phone calls are sent through your CallDirek® Phone adaptor to your regular or cordless phone.

What's the difference between Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) and Cable Internet?

In general, Cable Internet and DSL connections both work well with our service. The main difference between the services is the type of connection used. A Cable Internet connection uses your Cable TV line. A DSL connection uses the phone lines that are provided by your local phone company.

What's Broadband?

Broadband is high-speed Internet access such as through a Cable or DSL modem. It gives you a continuous connection to the Internet at speeds much faster than dial-up. You need a broadband connection to use CallDirek® Voip because we insist on consistent high quality audio for all your calls. As a general rule, if you're getting speeds of 90 Kbps or better, you probably have a broadband connection.

What's VoIP?

VoIP (or Voice over Internet Protocol) is a great new way to make and receive phone calls using your broadband Internet connection instead of your standard phone line. CallDirek® Voip converts your phone calls into data that zips through your high-speed Internet connection just like email. It comes out the other end just like a regular phone call. Your callers will never know that it's any different since it sounds just like a regular phone call.
